Rotary Supports The Volunteer Bureau in Castle Donington

Fantastic Rotary Visit to JCB Factory on 24th April 2018

We would like to thank JCB for a most enjoyable visit. Ten Rotarians and four guests had a guided tour of the exhibition area and the factory.

In the exhibition area the history of the company and its products was explained from post-war Britain to the present day.

In production areas we saw how friction welding is used in the production of hydraulic rams.

In the main factory we saw how steel plate is pressed, welded, shot-blasted, painted and then fitted with engine, cab and a myriad other parts before receiving its final inspection.

A tremendous success story.  Thanks again, JCB and to our experienced and knowledgeable guides.

In Mick's thanks he told of the services provided by the Volunteer centre, not just the Minibuses we see around the village and surrounding areas taking people to the shops on "Dial a Ride", but groups to functions, and school children to events.

In addition the centre are central to the Grow Cook Share scheme, growing preparing and supplying cooked lunches. They also provide the Medical Cars scheme, running people to hospital, doctor's or dental appointments, Read to Teach, Help a Hand for those little jobs around the house.

All these are essential services provided by a voluntary organisation. Well worthwhile supporting.

Rotary gave a cheque for £1000 to the Mick Forey of the Volunteer Bureau.  This is just one of the ways we recycle money back into our local community.  This is money collected principally from our Santa Sleigh Collections.  Thank you everybody who supports us in this work.
