News - 2018 (Jan/Feb)

At our evening concert Alex Anderson, who has taken part in the festival for a number of years, was pronounced the overall winner.  He played Rachmaninoff's Prelude in G sharp.

He is also pictured with the runners up Abigail Smith (vocal and piano), who played The Hill by Marketa Irglova) and Hannah Herlih-Starr (flute) who played CPE Bach's Sonata in A minor.

Winner of the Oliver Walton Foundation (OWF) Most Promising Younger Musician award was Matei Cojocaru playing the piano and performing Les Ombres de Lune sur la Montagne by Linn.  He isd pictured with Nicky Walton of the OWF.

As ever we have been splendidly supported by the Community Orchestra lead by Rachel Canny.  The orchestra opened the evening for us with a selection of tunes from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

We had a separate Junior School event at which the Orchard Choir was judged to be a worthy winner who then came to our evening concert and performed for us.

Alex is pictured with President of Rotary in Castle Donington, Glyn Ward.

Thanks also to our hard working adjudicator Rowen Cozens.

Thanks again to our generous sponsors: The Oliver Walton Foundaton, East Midlands Airport, Hanson Cement, TBAT, Quenton Crane, Hypnos Beds and SS and KK Attwall (Dental Surgery).
